What does the simulator deliberately not model?sourced
No dynamic time-step simulation, no microbial population dynamics, no explicit ammonia, VFA or H2S inhibition, no feedstock seasonality inside the engine, no Monte Carlo, no debt, tax or working-capital cycle, and no CFD inside the digester. It also does no full life-cycle assessment or soil modelling, so carbon-intensity claims are out of scope - which is consistent with the genuine absence of a peer-reviewed Napier LCA.
What are the common mistakes when using the simulator?derived
Entering nameplate feedstock without checking the supply calendar, assuming lab yields will be achieved, forgetting digestate and CO2 revenue, and treating blending-mandate demand as guaranteed offtake. The tool builds intuition about which lever matters; it is not investment advice.
How should the outputs inform a real decision?derived
Use it to stress-test feedstock security, offtake-price scenarios and uptime before commissioning a full feasibility study - so that you arrive at the DPR asking better questions. Real decisions still need site feedstock testing, statutory approvals and a bankable DPR behind them.
