About one acre per TPD is a common planning figure - 5-10 acres for a 5-10 TPD plant - plus water for scrubbing and slurry make-up, with water scrubbing alone drawing several cubic metres an hour. Captive energy-crop models need far more: Reliance's 100 TPD Kanigiri site spans 475 acres including the Napier land.
